I will keep an eye open for your next meeting and will hopefully find a sitter so i can attend. i found your site on friends reunited, i think you were the year above me at school? anyway, hopefully catch up with you sometime? keep up the good work!

Hi
this is a lovely site that I am so glad I have stumbled across, I feel very isolated and was comforted by your story. I have 6 children 18,10,6,4,3,16mths and like you knew very early on that my 5th child JJ who is 3 was different, he has no speech just sounds like vowels I have a wonderful health visitor who was very on the ball and refered him to speech and lanuage at 2 however over year down the line no one has offered us an explination to his behavoir and lack of speech he is sociably withdrawn and needs routine he can be very demanding and its very frustrating not being able to tell what he wants we have tried makaton and picture cards and as yet I have been un-able to get any pre schooling for him. He isnt potty trained and still wakes in the night he also wont sleep without a bottle something I have never done beyond 18 months with the others. I miss adult company and despair and most of the family dont understand luckily I have 2 sister who are qualified mental health nurses and it was during a visit from one today who hasnt seen him for a few months that she mentioned he shows a lot of autistic characteristics I am grateful for her advice but lost as to what more I can do I have attended parent and child interaction groups and take him to mainstreme toddler sessions twice a week but as for getting a diagnosis or help I feel like I am facing a brick wall we do have a appointment with the community peadiatrician next month so I am hoping some progress will be made I know he is still young which is good but being 1 of 6 I am unable to give him what he needs and feel constantly exhausted and mentally strained. Hope there is light at the end of this tunnel

Hi, This is my first visit to this site so I am really interested and excited to see what its all about. My 15 year old son has Aspergers and Dyspraxia and we have been left to get on with it without any support. I will keep a watch on this site for news of any events etc.
